"The place where time stood still" a newspaper article featuring our own Deacon Al Green written by Joe Kernan for the Warwick Beacon.
Warwick poet and schoolteacher, Al Green has started a memorial scholarship fund in his older brother's name for the benefit of Sea Island kids who need help with tuition. He hopes to supplement the fund with sales of his poetry anthology titled "The Struggle for Peace of a Gullah Mind". Congratulations, Deacon Green from your church family at Congdon Street Baptist.

In June 2008 Congdon Street Baptist Church went on it's first Historic Black College/University Tour.
Our tour of historically black colleges in Washington , DC , Atlanta , Georgia , and Tuskegee , Alabama was a resounding success.
This was the first opportunity that many of our youths had to visit Howard, Tuskegee , Clark , and Emory Universities , and Morehouse
and Spellman Colleges . They were fascinated with Atlanta ’s metropolitan vastness, southern hospitality, economic development,
cultural richness, and sheer beauty; they fell in love with Atlanta . Our youths worked very hard to raise funds for this trip,
which cultivated their dedication, discipline, and teamwork to accomplish an important goal. I am very proud of our youth.
